License
SPP checks out a network license from AV License Server every time it starts, and needs one to work fully — there is no trial mode for SPP; without a valid license it runs in demo mode. Without a License Server, SPP can run with a stand-alone license bound to the computer (see below).
At startupIf the License Server does not grant a license (server not configured or not reachable, wrong address or port, no free seat for SPP, license expired, or only a trial available), the main window is not opened: the License window opens instead and shows the reason. A stand-alone license is checked first: the License Server is contacted only when it is missing or not valid, and the reason it was not used is shown too.
- Correct the License Server Server and Port and click Save and retry: the settings are saved and the license is requested again.
- Or import a stand-alone license with Import license...: SPP starts at once.
- Close the window to start SPP in demo mode.
This also applies to batch mode.
License menu
Once SPP is running, the License menu opens the same window, with three boxes.
- License
Customer, product, version, server (host and port, or "Stand-alone license") and, if the license is close to expiring, the expiry date and the number of days remaining. If no license is active, the reason is shown instead. - Activation code
- Server / Port and Edit — change the License Server address and port. The change takes effect at the next startup.
- Borrow license... — keeps the license on this computer for use outside the network. SPP asks for the number of days (7 proposed): the server grants at most its own maximum, and never beyond the license expiry. Until then SPP also starts without the License Server. Available only while connected to the server.
- Return borrowed license — gives the seat back to the server before the loan expires, making it available to the other users again. SPP then needs the License Server again to run.
- Stand-alone license — license without License Server: a signed

%ProgramData%\AV_License\SPP.licand uses it at once. - Remove license — deletes the stand-alone license from this computer. SPP then needs the License Server again to run.
SPP.licfile placed next toSPP.exeis used as well. A stand-alone license stops working if it expires, if it was issued for another computer or product, or if the system clock is moved back. With a stand-alone license in use, borrowing is not needed. - Computer code and Copy — the code that identifies this computer, copied to the clipboard: send it to your vendor, who returns the
If the license is lost while SPP is running (connection to the server lost with no borrowed license, or license revoked), a message is shown and SPP continues in demo mode; it goes back to normal as soon as the license is valid again.
Demo mode
Without a valid license (none granted at startup, only a trial available, or license lost while working) SPP still works, also in batch mode, with these limits:
- The window title ends with
- DEMO. - In the converted program every digit of the X, Y, Z, A, B, C, U, V, W, I, J and K values is replaced by the lowercase address letter (
X152.645becomesXxxx.xxx). Comments, quoted texts and words such asCYCLE800orTRAORIare not changed. - The program is shown only in the output panel, where it cannot be selected or copied: the output file, the sub-program files and
<program>.tools.xmlare not saved, and the Log says so.
A stand-alone license imported from the License menu ends the demo mode at once.
See the AV License Server page for how network licensing works across the whole suite.
